Events for the entire family in Cape Town this November

Buckle up for yet another exciting month - as many as 166 event organisers have applied for permits this November.
The Earthshot Prize Awards, taking place at the Green Point Shared Fields on Wednesday, 6 November 2024, leads a busy week of events in Cape Town.
The star-studded award ceremony will honour and recognise NGOs and eco entrepreneurs pioneering solutions to the earth’s environmental problems.
Some of the world’s biggest musicians, artists, athletes and eco activists will be in Cape Town for the glitzy occasion, which will also include performances by Grammy-nominated artist Davido, internationally renowned artist Diamond Platnumz, Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award Winner Lebo M, the Ndlovu Youth Choir and BET Award-nominated DJ, Uncle Waffles.
Residents and visitors are advised of road closures in and around the Green Point Precinct between 15:00 and 23:00 on Wednesday, including:
- Fritz Sonnenberg (McDonald’s side)
- Vlei Road and Helen Suzman Boulevard
- Fritz Sonnenberg and Bay Road
- Granger Bay Boulevard and Green Point A-Track parking
Cape Town has already hosted the Killarney Motor Show, Wines2Whales and Liefde by die Dam, which collectively pulled thousands of spectators this past weekend.

This week, the Mother City is set for an action-packed thrill ride on two wheels with Freestyle Kings, taking place at the DHL Stadium on Saturday, 9 November 2024.
Featuring some of the world’s top extreme sports athletes, Freestyle Kings offers two hours of action-packed stunts, unmatched acrobatic skills and gravity-defying feats from some of the greatest FMX and BMX riders.
The event runs from 18:00 until 20:00. Tickets are available from freestylekings.com
From 8 – 30 November, the Cape Malay Choir Board will host its annual choral competitions, which also forms part of the organisation’s 85th anniversary.
City Hall will host the sections stage from Friday, 8 November to Sunday, 10 November 2024.
The choral finale will be hosted over two days at the CTICC on 16 and 17 November before the Grand Finale takes place at Athlone Stadium on 30 November.

Cape Town Disabled Open
This Disability Rights Awareness month, the fourth Cape Town Disabled Open takes place at King David Mowbray Golf Club on 17 and 18 November 2024.
Approximately 60 disabled golfers will compete in three classes over two days.
A premier event on South Africa’s disabled golf calendar, the tournament showcases the talent and determination of golfers with disabilities from around the world.
It also highlights the skill of the players, while promoting inclusivity and growth within the sport.
Red Bull King of the Air
The world’s best kiteboarders will take to the skies for Red Bull King of the Air’s return to Kite Beach on the windiest day between 23 November and 8 December.
For the first time in the event’s history, the programme includes an official women’s division, bringing a deeper level of inclusivity to the King of the Air and celebrating the sport's growth.
With their gravity-defying tricks, riders will show off their style, the height of their jumps, and their most insane tricks in the ferocious Cape Town winds.
Red Bull King of the Air is a free event for spectators and will take place at Kite Beach in Blouberg.
Italy in Town
In partnership with the City of Cape Town, the Italian Consulate will host the inaugural Italy in Town festival in Green Point.
Taking place on 23 and 24 November at the Cape Quarter in De Waterkant, the festival aims to bring an authentic Italian experience to the broader Cape Town public.
The festival features two days of music, culture, cooking labs and wine tastings, with attractions for the whole family on offer to ticket holders. In addition to the numerous market stands offering artisanal and authentic gastronomic products, visitors will be entertained by music performances and widespread activities.

DSTV Mitchell's Plain Festival
DStv KykNET Mitchells Plain Festival, one of the country’s most popular community events, will close off November with three days of music, food, open-air fun and thrilling carnival rides at Westridge Gardens.
With an exciting lineup including Ziggy4x, Ricky Vani Frontline, Team Kenni, Jarrad Ricketts, The Rockets New Generation, Vuvu Kumalo and the Mitchells Plain Music Academy, the festival offers something for all musical tastes.
The Mitchells Plain Festival takes place from 29 November until 1 December 2024.
